Castle Valley Rock Climbing

It’s likely you’ve seen a photo of the iconic skyline of Castle Valley with some of the world’s most dramatic desert towers. Countless television commercials and a Bon Jovi music video have been filmed atop the vertical walled towers. It’s difficult to describe the feeling of standing on top of such a dramatic feature!

SEASON
While spring and fall are the prime season, it is possible to climb here year round.

Mountain Trip will now be handling booking for climbing in Moab. Please call 970-369-1153 to book.

A Desert Tower Climbing Destination

Whether you have one objective in mind or ten we can organize a custom trip based on your objectives. A great way to experience Castle Valley is as part of our Best 4 Days in Moab Itinerary.

Part of the Ultimate Rock Pass

Eldorado Canyon is part of our Ultimate Rock Pass. The Ultimate Rock Pass is a punch pass style offering that marries the benefits of 1 on 1 instruction and guidance of a guide with the cost savings of a group enrollment program. This pass is good anywhere we offer rock climbing “day trips”.

Storming the Castle

Always seen pictures of Castleton Tower and Fine Jade but not sure where to start? Start right here! Based on your previous experience we’ll organize a program of custom skill development. Using a combination of crags around Moab we’ll fill in any gaps you have in your crack technique and if you are ready we’ll attempt Castleton or any other appropriate objective you have in mind.

CastleJade: Castle Valley’s Classic Linkup

Fine Jade and the North Face of Castleton Tower are two of the most recognizable rock climbs on the planet. Linking these two climbs up in the same day is something special.

Classic Climbs of Castle Valley

Castleton Tower

The most famous route on this iconic tower is Kor Ingalls. A slightly lesser known, but exceptionally popular moderate route is the North Chimney.

Perhaps the most classic route is the North Face. At solid 5.11- it’s not the choice for most inaugural trips up Castleton, but if you have the movement skill this is by far one of the best routes in Castle Valley.

The Rectory

There are no easy routes up The Rectory. However, if 5.11 finger locks are your “jam” then you’ll be psyched on Fine Jade 5.11a. With consistently engaging pitches with good protection and the best possible position imaginable, this is absolutely one of our favorite climbs on the planet! Honeymoon Chimney 5.10 is anther spectacular route to be had here.
