Overview

Our entire company is built around a fundamental concept: get to know you and tailor the day to you! Peak has a strong connection with Ouray rock climbing. Ouray County is home to our headquarters and we would love to show you around our backyard!

Part of the Ultimate Rock Pass

The Ouray area is part of our Ultimate Rock Pass. The Ultimate Rock Pass is a punch pass style offering that marries the benefits of 1 on 1 instruction and guidance of a guide with the cost savings of a group enrollment program. This pass is good anywhere we offer rock climbing “day trips”.

Half Day Rock Climbing in Ouray

Regardless of how much experience you have it is possible to do a half day of climbing (roughly 4 hours). There are several venues very near the road that are perfect for a quick sample of Ouray rock climbing.

Ouray’s Best Climbing Areas

Rotary Park

It is unlikely a route exists in The Black that has seen more ascents than Maiden Voyage. With only a short, well protected 5.9 crux this route serves as a great introduction to the feeling of climbing in such a spectacular location. Depending on how the pitches are broken up, there are 5 to 7 pitches on this route. Often the route King Me is linked with Maiden Voyage to provide a few additional pitches of climbing and take climbers all the way to the top of the rim.

The Overlook

Throughout winter, this limestone crag calls to us from its perch above the Ouray Ice Park. This cliff is composed of Leadville Limestone and offers some of the area’s most challenging sport climbs in addition to an incredible selection of moderates. Its hard to beat limestone for technical, balancy, and precision climbing.

The Pool Wall

This zone is aptly named for its proximity to the Ouray Hot Springs. It is a Hermosa Sandstone outcropping with about 100 routes scattered between 7 named climbing zones. This is a high quality sport and trad climbing destination that soaks up a good amount of Ourays daily dose of Sunshine. This high quality crag offers tremendous grade diversity and is a good place to get an honest assessment of your climbing level.

The Misfits/Waterfall Wall

A short drive South of Ouray on the “Million Dollar Highway” is a collection of climbs known by a few different names. These areas are surprisingly accessible and provide great opportunities for multi-pitch sport climbing. The setting is spectacular and the climbing memorable on good quartzite. Ouray’s most popular multi-pitch climb “Princess Ella’s Magical Adventure” is found here.
