The convenience of Eldorado Canyon and proximity to Boulder make it a popular destination. The rock climbing in the canyon speaks for itself, however! With great intro climbs to some of Colorado’s most epic pitches, Eldo is host to more variety than almost any other single venue.
Keep It Movin’ and Shakin’
Climbing with a guide has the most obvious benefit of having someone with knowledge of an area to show you the classic routes. As you can imagine, talented and knowledgable guides will also know the “off the radar” climbing to dodge the crowds. It’s not much fun to sit in the queue at the bottom of the climb. If climbing the Bastille Crack is a the top of your list be prepared for an early start!
Multi-Pitch Skill Development
The climbing in Eldo lends itself to any number of skill development opportunities. There is amazing toproping in Eldo, but the best aspects of the venue are the endless supply of multi-pitch climbs. Many routes have short pitches with comfortable belays making a great classroom for impromptu rope management or anchoring lessons. We often combine time in Eldo with more committing alpine trips as it is an excellent venue to gain the technical skills needed for many routes in Rocky Mountain National Park.
