The climbing around Montrose lends itself to any number of skill development opportunities. There is amazing, beginner friendly, top-roping at Dry Creek with all types of sandstone climbing; cracks, slabs, and, face climbing. The world-famous Black Canyon has an endless supply of massive multi-pitch trad climbs.

Montrose rock climbing is “undiscovered”.

Far from the crowded climbing areas of the Front Range of Colorado, climbing on the Western Slope offers a laid back atmosphere. Despite the limited number of climbers there is absolutely MORE climbing here than anywhere in the Colorado!

The Black Canyon of Gunnison National Park Climbing

In between Montrose and Gunnison, Colorado The Black Canyon is Colorado’s world-class multi-pitch climbing destination. Massive humbling climbs on sheer Granite walls combined with accessible entry-level classic climbs like Mayden Voyage and Dragon’s Tooth.

This is the perfect place to experience the adventure of multipitch trad climbing.

Dry Creek

Just outside of Montrose, Dry Creek is a little-known sandstone crag with perfect short pitches of all types of climbing. This is our favorite place for teaching rock climbing, the climbing here lends itself to a perfect day for all climbing abilities and styles.

Group Size

This is a private program, no one else will be paired with your party. If your group is larger than 4 for toproping, we apply a group discount and additional guides are added to keep the guest to guide ratio at 4:1 or lower. Multi-pitch climbing is a maximum ratio of 2:1.

Refund Policy

You may cancel and receive a refund of a Program for events out of your control such as an injury or family emergency. This refund will be less credit card fees. Transfers (or change of date) are allowed at no cost pending availability. You may not receive a refund if do not to show up to a Program without notice.
