Colorado Ski Mountaineering

Time to bust out that rope and hit some technical lines! The San Juan Mountains hold some of the biggest, most aesthetic ski mountaineering terrain in Colorado. It is a rugged range, with craggy summits and exciting ski descents that are perfectly suited to ski mountaineering.

The San Juan Mountains are the premier ski mountaineering venue in the United States with quality ski mountaineering objectives – steep chutes, big faces, challenging climbing, and steep ski descents. During these missions, you climb just about everything before you ski it, making it an excellent training ground to learn climbing skills as they relate to ski mountaineering. You will be lead by IFGMA or AMGA certified guides who are highly experienced ski mountaineers with years of experience.

Single Day Mission

Single day missions are great for people who want to be home in time for dinner with stories to share at the table. Our private trips allow you and your group the undivided attention of your guide as you head out on your customized mission catered for you. There are many single day options out there from mild to wild. Want to tackle a repel into a couloir? No problem. How about busting out that ice axe and sending it straight up that chute? You got it. We can work out a plan to tackle a specific mission or design one for you with countless options.

Hut Based Multi-Day Options

The San Juan Mountains have an exstensive network of huts that come with all the bells and wistles. Ammenities such as private bedrooms, catered food and saunas allows you to focus on your skiing objectives during the day before relaxing at night. All without sacraficing comfort. We understand that food planning can be a hastle. So if a hut of your choice doesn’t offer catering, we can provide meals upon request at additional cost. We offer a variety of hut based ski mountaineering missions with all aspects of your trip being completly customizable. If you have a specific hut in mind let us know! We can plane a mission around you.

Camping Based Multi-Day Options

For the more rugged adevnturer who wants to explore deeper into the mountains. This trip differs from the others by incorporating lightweight alpine camping systems or expedition style systems depending on your objectives. This trip can include meals and group camping equipment at additional cost.

Group Size

This is a private program, no one else will be paired with your party. If your group is larger than 2, we apply a group discount and additional guides are added to keep the guest to guide ratio at 2:1 or lower.
